This month’s featured shop is Puur Anders (Dutch for ‘pure different’). Textile artist Miranda van Dijk creates fabric flowers and leaves with vintage photographs.

Miranda: “It all started when I got a photo album of my grandmother. The photos were so unique, but I would never get to hear her tell the stories behind them. Her memories were hidden from me – they were gone, like leaves in the fall. I started combining techniques, and my Hidden Memories collection was born.

My photographic leaves tell the story of a girl raised by Mother Nature who finds hidden places in the woods. The connection between humankind and nature that forms when she discovers her human side inspired me to make leaves and flowers with her photographs. Recently, I’ve been making up new stories inspired by vintage photographs I’ve found on Etsy or at flea markets.”

Of course we won’t be giving her beautiful work away just like that, so here’s what to do:

Show us why/how you are inspired by nature:

1. Photograph, illustrate, paint, make a paper cutting, etc. Get creative and have fun with it!
2. Post the image on Instagram. Add #visualstrandsbutterfly and @visualstrands.
3. Enter as many times as you like Before Monday 29th.
I’ll announce the winner on Monday 29th and will of course share all your efforts on our Instagram and Twitter accounts in the mean time. Please share everywhere on social. We can’t wait to see all your work!

UPDATE! We’ve picked a winner: @pknatuurkunst. Congratulations, Paula! –
