Can you believe it’s Urban Jungle Bloggers time again already! This month’s theme is Planty Table Setting. As you can see, I don’t iron my cotton table cloth (or any other fabric). But let’s just call it ‘a rustic linen look’ annnd suddenly it looks much better ;)
For the occasion I baked some vegan lemon drizzle cakes. You can find the recipe here, but I did tweak it a bit. Just experiment and see what works best for you. The cooking time was much less too, because I used a muffin tin instead of a big cake tin. And always use organic lemons because you’re using the zest and you don’t want to be eating pesticides. Just a little tip.
I’ll have to bake some more, they went quickly…
Back to the plants (sorry, I always get carried away when it comes to food).
Beautiful Japanese fern leaves from the garden as a little planty accent.
And a little Tiarella Cordifolia stem. The flowers are so delicate and look great with a little cake.
Coffee is a must when eating sweet, I think. My trusty Bialetti percolator is perfect for the occasion. And it’s fun, too. Love that guy.
Some extra handmade porcelain dishes for unexpected guests.
Oh yes, and of course some tiny succulents and cacti.

Lovely plant setting!! I have never seen the japanese fern leaves , they are so exquisite !
Looks like a lovely rustic setting :)
Aren’t they! They love a moist shady spot in the garden and then they just keep coming up every year. Thanks for visiting, Vinaya! I’m sorry but I couldn’t comment on your blog for some reason. Wanted to say that I agree with you about the eating at the dinner table. Not really happening here either ;) Really funny post and lovely setting.
Yummmmm! Glad to see that your deliciouscakes didn’t last very long either ;) And your Lithops looks so good, Yvonne! Mine (much smaller than yours) died last year after only a few months. Do you have any special care tips? Or just regular (little) watering and lots of sweet talking?
Lithops, that’s the name! I could have Googled it, ahem, but glad you came to the rescue ;) I had one years ago but it died on me then too. Now I watered it well when planting to give it a little kick start and then left it alone. I think these succulents just can’t stand too much water. They’re used to storing it internally after all. Oh yes some sweet sweet talking might help too XD
Yvonne, what an utterly stylish table setting.
In fact, I HATE ironed linen. I think the patterns of the
non-ironed table cloth are so much nicer.
That sexy black Bialetti percolator… and your vegan lemon drizzle.
Everything here is delicate and stunning. Gorgeous post xx
Thanks so much, Tina! Blushing now… Yes, who has time to iron anything anyway ;) Perfectly imperfect is just fine. Sexy percolator. That made me chuckle. I’ll never look at it the same way again, haha. xx
Lovely stylish table setting – so pretty and makes me want to participate in UJB challenge too ;-)
Have a great day,
Anya x
Oh you should! :) Thanks so much Anya, have a lovely evening!
